The Industry's Most Trusted and Shipped UEFI Firmware Adds "Fast Boot" Capability to Complement Next-Generation Windows OS

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 - Insyde Software, a leading provider of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) based firmware today announced its support of the Intel® "Calpella" mobile platform, formally announced today by Intel as the Intel® Core™ i7-820QM and i7-720QM Processors; Intel® Core™ i7-920XM Extreme Edition Processor and Mobile Intel® PM55 Express Chipset.

In addition, Insyde Software has announced that recent collaboration with Microsoft has resulted in new boot-time performance improvements which will be available with InsydeH2O for Calpella-based platforms and beyond. At the Intel Developer Forum being held this week in San Francisco, Insyde and Microsoft will co-present a session entitled; "UEFI Boot Time Optimization Under Microsoft Windows 7."

Built on the highly modular and industry-standards based Framework for UEFI, InsydeH2O is the most widely shipped UEFI-based firmware in notebook and related market segments worldwide. Insyde Software expects its customers to ship tens of millions of Calpella-based notebooks in the coming year.

Insyde Software and Microsoft have been working together for over a year to optimize firmware-to-OS handoff times for mobile computers. The joint presentation will showcase results that demonstrate a 66% reduction in boot time while still meeting the Microsoft Windows Logo requirements for PC OEMs and ODMs.
