Insyde® Software's Quick Launch Technology Adopted by GIGABYTE™ for TouchNote™ Series of Small Notebooks

COMPUTEX, TAIPEI, JUNE 02, 2009 - Insyde Software, a leading provider of UEFI BIOS firmware today announced that GIGABYTE has selected its InsydeQ2L "Quick-to-Launch" product to ship on the recently announced TouchNote Tablet small notebook T1028X.

InsydeQ2L is a firmware product stored in the BIOS ROM that is complimentary to InsydeH2O™, the world's most widely used UEFI mobile PC BIOS solution. Along with reducing boot time, it also provides an integration platform for secondary, instant-on operating environments. These environments allow users to more quickly launch applications, especially when a boot to Windows® is not necessary or desired. Additionally, InsydeQ2L functions seamlessly in computers featuring Windows operating systems, allowing PC users to regularly boot Windows and operate their computers normally.

GIGABYTE has chosen Linpus' QuickOS™ as the secondary operating system to be powered by InsydeQ2L. The QuickOS applications that are readily accessible, include but are not limited to an internet browser, a media player, Skype VOIP, instant messenger, and e-mail. Users can also elect to boot to the primary operating system on the platform; Microsoft® Windows®. By leveraging the InsydeH2O UEFI BIOS, Linpus QuickOS runs in an efficient power managed state offering extended battery life.
