Insyde Technology Delivers Firmware Solution for Orion Multisystems 96-node Deskside Cluster Workstation
Supports High Performance Clustering to Individual Workstations
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., July 6, 2005 - Insyde Technology, a leading provider of firmware, system software and engineering services, today announced that it has delivered a firmware solution to support the Orion Multisystems 96-node deskside Cluster Workstation. This personal supercomputer fits under a desk and is the highest performance general-purpose computing platform that can be plugged into a standard power outlet. Insyde Technology's firmware solutions help Orion Multisystems achieve high performance personal supercomputing.
Designed for an office or laboratory, Orion Cluster Workstations are innovative productivity tools for individual engineers, scientists, financial and creative professionals. The 96-node Cluster Workstation, significantly expands Orion's capabilities from a company providing mobile supercomputing with its 12-node desktop, to true capacity computing, saving customers the usage time, costs and IT infrastructure associated with large, shared backroom clusters. Orion's DS-96 deskside system is based on clustering, which is the best means of exploiting parallelism to generate very high performance.
At the system software level, Insyde Technology's firmware supports the clustering architecture of the DS-96, including hardware initialization, boot sequence I/O support, and a host of other custom features unique to the Orion supercomputer.
"Insyde Technology delivered a sound firmware platform with key features to support the Orion Multisystems 96-node deskside Cluster Workstation," said Colin Hunter, president and CEO, Orion Multisystems.
"Orion Multisystems is bringing innovative personal computing capabilities to industries where productivity and performance are critical," said Stephen Gentile, president for Insyde Technology. "We're pleased to work with Orion to deliver these solutions."
