Partnership Aimed at Lowering Costs and Improving Time-to-Market for Embedded Computing Makers

EMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE - SAN FRANCISCO, CA, April 22, 2003 - Insyde Software, a leading global provider of Firmware/BIOS & embedded computing software and Datalight Inc., developers of essential, high-quality, cost-effective embedded system software, today announced a strategic sales partnership that will make it easier for embedded PC manufacturers to design-in, test, and ship a more complete system-level software solution.

Through this agreement, Insyde Software will have the ability to offer Datalight's flagship products FlashFX® and ROM-DOS™ to its information appliance and embedded computing customers. Today, Insyde Software leverages its expertise in all embedded operating systems to offer BIOS, custom firmware, operating system integration and device driver development to a broad array of mobile and embedded device manufacturers. In addition, Datalight will refer customers to Insyde Software for all BIOS related inquiries and opportunities.

Typical applications that may take advantage of this integrated approach include industrial PCs, automotive computing, thin clients, gaming systems, web pads and more. The OEMs and system designers of such devices will benefit by having an integrated and optimized system software product, more options for product differentiation, a reduction in overall development time and a streamlining of their vendor selections.

FlashFX® is a family of products, which provides essential flash memory management software for resident flash arrays. FlashFX enables applications and operating systems to access flash memory as though it was a standard disk drive. Programs simply read and write data to the flash array using standard OS file system calls to open, close, read, and write files.

ROM-DOS™ continues to be a fully developed and supported OS which incorporates a suite of tools, including a compact TCP/IP stack, that are designed to advance the embedded device market from stand-alone to Internet enabled. ROM-DOS supports applications that provide embedded systems with the ability to send and receive e-mail, transfer files via FTP, run a remote console or be viewed from a local web browser.
