
Insyde Software Announces Pre-Boot Technology Advancements
Eases deployment of EFI applications and adoption of EFI specification for PC Manufacturers
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, San Jose, Calif., February 18, 2003 (Kiosk # 20) - Insyde Software, a leading global provider of BIOS/firmware and consulting services, today announced the availability to PC makers of a new suite of EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) applications and a development framework to support the adoption of EFI. The EFI Specification defines a common model for the interface between operating systems and platform firmware. In addition, EFI offers a standard environment for booting an operating system and running pre-boot applications.
This new offering from Insyde Software known as the "InsydeBoot eFx™ Technology Suite" consists of a series of modular firmware components, a customizable graphical menu system and an array of pre-boot applications. Insyde Software will unveil this new technology in an exhibit at the Intel Developer Forum, Spring 2003.

Insyde Software's InsydeBoot eFx™ Technology Suite includes the following components:
EFI Firmware - system firmware, boot services, OS loader necessary to ensure compliance with the EFI specification.
Insyde Control Console - a customizable graphical-based menu for simplifying the administration and configuration of boot options and pre-boot applications.
Pre-boot Applications including:
- Messaging
- Operating System Recovery
- System Diagnostics
- BIOS Update
Insyde Software is developing a series of pre-boot applications to be made available over the coming months. Insyde's ODM and OEM customers will be able to use the InsydeBoot eFx™ technology to shorten firmware development time, offer differentiation through increased functionality and improve the re-usability of technology components across multiple product lines.
