INSYDE SOFTWARE HELPS ENABLE MATSUSHITA BROADNOW BROADBAND TV TUNER

National Semiconductor's Geode™ Processor Drives First Product in Matsushita Broadband TV Line

CES, Las Vegas, NV, January 9, 2003 - Insyde Software, a leading provider of system-level software and system integration services, today announced that its XpressROM™ product for National Semiconductor's Geode™ processor family is shipping on Matsushita's Broadnow Broadband TV tuner. Announced late last year and made available in the Japan market in November, the Broadnow TV tuner is the first product of Matsushita's new category of Broadband TVs that gives consumers new entertainment options in their homes.

Insyde Software, working in conjunction with National Semiconductor (co-developer of XpressROM) and strategic partner Pacific SystemSoft K.K. in Japan, provided a customized version of the XpressROM firmware and hands-on integration services to meet the product quality and project schedule requirements as defined by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.

The Matsushita Broadnow Broadband TV tuner allows consumers to experience high-quality video, music and other content distributed through broadband networks such as fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and ADSL. In July 2002, the Japanese government reported a rapidly growing ADSL subscriber base with over 3.5 million users in Japan. The Broadnow TV tuner leverages National's Geode SC1201 set-top box-on-a-chip and Geode CS1301 multimedia co-processor as its core processing engines.

"We are honored to be one of Matsushita's partners in bringing the Broadnow Broadband TV tuner to market," said C.T. Wang, President of Insyde Software Corporation. "The joint development efforts of our team along with those of National Semiconductor and Pacific SystemSoft KK proved to be a winning combination for Matsushita and for future consumer entertainment and information devices."

"We are very pleased that Matsushita has selected National Semiconductor's Geode processor to power the Broadnow TV tuner," said Paul McCormick, Senior Marketing Manager of National Semiconductor's Information Appliance Group. "Our long-standing partnership with Insyde Software allows us to deliver a comprehensive and customizable firmware solution to help meet the price and performance balance demanded by our customers."
