Insyde Software Optimizes XpressROM™, Used In "Geode" IT Appliances, To Support TV Display Features in FOCUS Enhancements' FS450 Chip

Wilmington, MASS. January 4, 2001 - FOCUS Enhancements, Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE) announced that Insyde Software, licenser of XpressROM™, the system software exclusively recommended for information technology appliances based on the National Semiconductor Geode processor, has enhanced XpressROM™ to enable and optimize support for TV output features exclusive to FOCUS Enhancements' FS450 video co-processor. The FS450, which converts digital computer video for display on a conventional TV, is used widely in devices, which contain a video display or provide an output signal for television.

Bill Schillhammer, FOCUS' Vice President of OEM Sales, said, "The FS450 is now fully supported by XpressROM™ and Insyde has tuned the BIOS to take advantage of the high quality TV imaging made possible by the FS450 video scan conversion technology. With XpressROM™, National Semiconductor and FOCUS FS450 based information appliances can operate as television set-top boxes with the TV as a monitor. The FS450's superior conversion quality allows even the small fonts used in web sites and email to be clearly read on a TV."

Co-developed by an alliance of companies, XpressROM™ was created to serve the needs of Geode processor-based Information Appliances.

"This relationship with Insyde is critical to our future in Geode appliances and immediately strengthens our position in the IA market with TV-out capabilities," said Schillhammer.

"We are pleased that Focus Enhancements and Insyde Software are working together to enable high quality television display for Information Appliances, " said Brian Gosselin, Vice President of Engineering, of Insyde Software. "We believe that XPressROM™ is the perfect fit for the FS450 and we are excited to provide world-class engineering support for customers of Focus Enhancements."
